(12.02.2026) It is with profound sadness that PARFUM acknowledges the passing of YA Tuan Eddie Yeo Soon Chye, a respected Judicial Commissioner, esteemed legal luminary, and proud Faculty of Law, University of Malaya LLB graduate, Class of 1984.
YA Tuan Eddie’s contributions to Malaysia’s legal landscape were marked by unwavering dedication, leadership, and fairness. After joining the Judicial and Legal Service in 1984, he served with distinction for over two decades, including:
• Serving as Chairman of the Industrial Court (2009–2015), where he was widely credited with significantly reducing the backlog of employment and industrial relations cases.
• Leading as President of the Industrial Court of Malaysia (2017–2020), bringing clarity, integrity and calm to some of the most complex disputes faced by our nation’s workforce.
• Chairing the Ministry of Finance’s Customs Appeal Tribunal, and later returning to private practice before his appointment as Judicial Commissioner in 2024.
Throughout his career, YA Tuan Eddie was admired not just for his legal acumen, but for his compassion, principled leadership, and the respect he earned across the judiciary, bar, and industrial relations fraternity.
